Since it was founded, the Ernst Herzfeld Society has held annual colloquia at different places in Europe, in Austria, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, in the cities of at Bamberg, Berlin, Bonn, Frankfurt am Main, Hamburg, Toledo, Vienna, and Zurich. The colloquia focus on one particular theme or on the presentation of a wide array of on-going research. Since 2013 there are additional annual meetings of students, graduates, and junior researchers in master and doctorate studies. They are usually held in conjunction with the regular colloquia.
